About me.
Hi, I'm Kathleen! I have a background in writing and editing and have had significant success in my own college and graduate school admissions cycles. I have also helped many others find success by teaching them how to better write about their life experiences. I view writing as both an art and a science and love teaching about both aspects of the writing process.
I graduated with a master's degree from Cornell University and a bachelor's degree from the University of Notre Dame. As a transfer student at Notre Dame, I went through the undergraduate application cycle twice, and then through the graduate application cycle once. I am an expert writer and editor and was the Senior Managing Editor of the Cornell Policy Review, one of the top student-run public policy journals in the nation during graduate school.
Although the college and graduate school application process is often a dreaded necessity, I try to bring joy to the process by looking at it as an opportunity for students to share their stories and unique experiences and perspectives. I also have extensive experience applying for scholarships and editing the scholarship applications of other students.
My teaching and tutoring style consists of helping students think through the writing process, instead of just telling them what to do. I help them become good writers themselves, by teaching them time-tested and proven strategies, instead of only looking at how to fix their essays. I enjoy helping students through the brainstorming process by encouraging them to think about their stories and how to best portray those stories through writing.
Please feel free to contact me with any additional questions or to further discuss my qualifications. I hope to start working with you or your child soon!
